Academics don’t read :-)

Jorge Cham is really amazing! He always seems to catch THOSE academic-research moments that we all know, in the PhD strips: http://phdcomics.com/comics.php

I was so horrified the first time that someone said this to me that I actually went back to all my cited references, reading them one by one. Even so, we tend to cite papers just by memory and it’s amazing to see that some old (great!) papers keep getting cited despite the fact that new ones are sometimes better or deeper, and with multi-experiments involved. With so many great manuscripts, I wonder if the new ones will also have the same chances of being widely cited??
